The management of HVEN CJSC visited \"Noravan\", \"Agarak-2\" and \"Shinuhayr\" substations

The management of “High Voltage Electric Networks on behalf of Acting General Director Mr. Davit Mirzoyan, by the leadership of RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan, made regular site visit to the Company's 400/220/20 kV "Noravan", 220/110/ kV "Agarak-2" and 220/ 110/35/10/6/kV "Shinuhayr" substations and familiarized with the progress of substation reconstruction works.

The visit was attended by Mehdi Sobhani, Ambassador of the IRI to Armenia, Syunik Region Governor Robert Ghukasyan and other officials, who were presented with the progress of the works carried out at "Noravan" substation.
Davit Mirzoyan emphasized that by the end of the year, it is planned to complete the cable laying works, carry out landscaping works, and technical reequipment of the substation during 2025. Special mention was made of the renovation of the control building of "Noravan" substation, where the installed up-to-date equipment allows monitoring both in Yerevan and Tehran.

During the visit, the sections for installation of towers from Armenia to Iran were also considered. During the last two months, about 40 towers were installed, concrete works were done, which are being carried out in harsh terrain. An agreement was reached to strengthen cooperation with the Iranian side in order to organize and implement works even more promptly.

Minister of the RA Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan, made the next stop at the 220/110/6kV "Agarak-2" substation. Here, the minister has been familiarized with the substation reconstruction works as well. Davit Mirzoyan emphasized that the "Agarak-2" substation is important for increasing the flexibility and reliability of electric energy, because the "Meghri-1" and "Meghri-2" power transmission lines from the "Shinuhayr" substation are connected to the "Agarak" substation, from where through the "Arasbaran-1” and "Arasbaran-2" transmission lines the energy is supplied to Iran. Substation can export up to 300 megawatts of energy to Iran per hour. After the operation of "Noravan" substation, it will be possible to increase it by another 200 megawatts and export electricity to Iran with a capacity of 500 megawatts per hour, and in the case of the construction of the 3rd Armenia-Iran power transmission line and the operation of the "Ddmashen" station at "Hrazdan" node, the export possibility will be increased by an additional 500 megawatts per hour, for a total of 1,000 megawatts.

The visit to the Syunik region ended at the 220/110/35/10/6/kV "Shinuhayr" substation. Gnel Sanosyan observed the work done at the substation.

Shinuhayr substation was built and commissioned in 1961. After commissioning, partial reconstruction works were carried out there.
Overhaul works of the substation commenced in 2018-2019. Currently, the work is in the final stage.

The installed capacity of the substation is 251 megawatts. One 125 and two 63 megawatt new autotransformers have been installed. It is a backbone nodal substation and the only one with all 220, 110, 35, 10 and 6 voltages.
