Until 2019, Armenia will have almost 100 percent upgraded, advanced high-voltage electric network in accordance with the International standards, said Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Areg Galstyan during the program “Urvagic” by Kentron TV. Implementation of these programs will enable to work in parallel with the Energy system of Georgia, thereby to prepare a way to Russia and the countries of Eurasian Economic Union. For this purpose, in the near future on the border with Georgia will be built the first AC/DC back-to-back substation. According to A. Galstyan, since 2019, will be operated north-south energy corridor. Currently, measures are being taken to form a legal terrain for the regulation of cooperative works with Georgia. Two agreements have been already signed and I think at the end of the year the agreement on the transit exchanges will be signed, too. Whereat we will start working towards the formation of regulatory sphere of market relationships with participation of Iran and Russia. In late June, a quadripartite meeting is foreseen with the participation of power engineers of Armenia, Russia, Georgia and Iran. The works are foreseen to start by implementation of scheduled events of confirmed road marks on regional cooperation in energy system.
