Companies Sinohydro corporation /China/, Siemens AG /Germany/ and consortium ABB AB-COBRA /Sweden, Spain/ are participating in the tender for construction of high-voltage direct current converter station and substations implementing in the framework of “Caucasus Transmission Network” project financed by German Development bank (KfW). Today the aforementioned Companies have submitted their Bidding documents to “High Voltage Electric Networks” CJSC. The winner will be known only after a detailed study of qualification, technical and financial proposals. In the framework of “Caucasus Transmission Network” project /for construction of high-voltage direct current converter station of Lot 1/ will be constructed high-voltage direct current converter station of 1050 MW capacity as well as Ayrum and Ddmashen substations. Besides only a dozen developed countries have high-voltage direct current converter station and it will be unique in the region being built in Chochkan community of Lori Region, Armenia.
General Director of “High Voltage Electric Networks” CJSC Artur Baghdasaryan wished success to all Bidders. He mentioned that “Caucasus Transmission Network” project is of strategic importance for energy systems of Armenia and for region in general. The project implementation aims to connect Armenian and Georgian Energy systems through the high-voltage direct current converter station.
After project completion will be increased the energy security level of Armenia and quality of electricity supply reliability, besides Armenia will become a transit country for electricity transmission in our region, mentioned Artur Baghdasaryan.
