The first phase of the electrical installation and construction works planned within the framework of the 220/110/35/10/6 kV "Shinuhayr" substation reconstruction project has already been completed. Equipment testing and adjustment have been carried out. Autotransformer No. 3 and the corresponding equipment have been energized. The relay protection and automation equipment planned for the first phase have also been commissioned. The second phase of the project is currently in progress.
The reconstruction of the 220/110/35/10/6 kV "Shinuhayr" substation is being implemented with the own funds of "High Voltage Electric Networks" CJSC. The project contractor is "Cascade Energo" LLC. The contract value is $5,255,000.0 USD.
The Shinuhayr substation has been in operation since 1961 and is located approximately 235 km from Yerevan, in the Syunik region.
As part of the project, autotransformers and transformers will be renovated, and 220, 110, 35, and 10/6 kV equipment, as well as relay protection and automation devices, will be replaced.
The completed works will improve the efficiency of Armenia’s power system, enhance the reliability of electricity supply to consumers in the region, and reduce power transmission losses. This project is of great importance for the stable economic development of the country, as well as for ensuring reliable, flexible, and mutually beneficial cross-border electricity exchanges between the energy systems of Armenia and Iran.
The project is expected to be completed in January 2024.
